Rutherford Cross Consultant, Jonathan Donnelly, reflects on this year’s Annual Charity Football Tournament to raise money for SAMH, held at Goals in the Southside of Glasgow.
In the run-up to the Euros in Germany, we hosted our Annual Charity Football Tournament at the end of last week in aid of SAMH. We were lucky to have perfect conditions on the day, and we were well looked after by the team at Goals.
The tournament aims to bring together our clients, candidates, and colleagues to raise money for the community. This is the least formal event that we run as a business, and provides an opportunity for finance professionals to take part in some friendly competition, network with counterparts from other businesses, and develop team bonding.
This year, we were delighted to welcome some new teams to the fold in the shape of Peak Scientific, C&C, Bruichladdich, GAP Group, Sports Scotland, Russell Group and Craig Corporate; whilst welcoming back Loganair, Gallagher, City Facilities, Whyte & MacKay, Azets and Parker Technical Services, with our Livingston James and Rutherford Cross teams added to the mix.
The Rutherford Cross team made it to the semi-finals this year, as did Gallagher, where they were defeated by Azets and Loganair respectively. The final proved to be one step too far for Loganair, who have won the competition on several occasions over the years, as Azets ran out 4-1 winners in the final.
Congratulations to Azets and all who took part. A great time was had by all, both on the pitch as well as relaxing with refreshments and pizzas afterwards. We are all very grateful to those who have donated to the JustGiving page for SAMH thus far. If you would like to donate, please click here.
We look forward to welcoming back those who took part at next year’s tournament. Hopefully, the big game this Friday is just as enjoyable, as we wish Scotland well in the Euros opener.
