Description

Rutherford Cross are delighted to be supporting our manufacturing client and they are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Consultant to support our finance function during a critical period of operational improvement and forward planning.

About the Role

This role is ideal for a hands‑on finance professional who can quickly embed themselves in the business, take ownership of key reporting cycles, and drive improvements in financial processes and data integrity.

You will play a central role in producing accurate and timely management accounts, strengthening cashflow reporting, leading the 2026 budgeting cycle, and ensuring a smooth and disciplined month‑end close. You will also lead targeted process improvements and data clean‑up initiatives to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Management Accounting & Reporting:

  • Produce monthly management accounts with clear analysis and commentary
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting
  • Support senior leadership with ad‑hoc financial insight and decision‑making

Cashflow Integrity & Financial Controls:

  • Review, enhance, and maintain cashflow forecasting models
  • Strengthen financial controls and ensure robust reconciliation processes
  • Identify risks and opportunities within cashflow and working capital

Budgeting & Planning:

  • Lead the preparation of the 2026 budget, working closely with department heads
  • Develop budgeting templates, assumptions, and timelines
  • Provide challenge, insight, and financial modelling to support planning

Month‑End Close:

  • Oversee and execute a disciplined month‑end close process
  • Ensure journals, reconciliations, and reporting packs are completed accurately
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting month‑end timelines or data quality

Process Improvement & Data Clean‑Up:

  • Review existing finance processes and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Lead data clean‑up initiatives to improve accuracy and reliability of financial information
  • Implement best‑practice processes across reporting, controls, and systems

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CA, or equivalent) / Qualified by Experienced
  • Proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, and cashflow management
  • Strong month‑end close experience in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to quickly diagnose issues, implement solutions, and improve processes
  • Comfortable working independently and delivering at pace
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with non‑finance stakeholders

Contract Type:

  • 3–6 Month Contract

Location:

  • Lanark, Scotland

Commitment:

  • Full‑time, 5 days per week on‑site
