Rutherford Cross is thrilled to be partnering with one of Scotland’s most iconic FMCG brands, Walker’s Shortbread, to recruit a Finance Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller this represents an outstanding opportunity to join one of Scotland’s most cherished brands.

Founded in 1898, when Joseph Walker fired up the ovens of the family bakery with a simple aim to bake ‘the world’s finest shortbread’, Walker’s Shortbread has grown to become a globally recognised brand. Still family-owned, and now into its fifth generation, the company operates across six production facilities in the beautiful Speyside region of northeast Scotland, with headquarters at the historic Aberlour House. The position is based on-site at the Walker’s Head Office in Aberlour, and we are keen to hear from both locally based candidates and finance professionals across Scotland who may be open to relocation. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.

We’re looking for a fully qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience and a background in leading finance teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong business partnering skills, experience working with regulatory bodies, and a solid understanding of payroll processes. Proficiency in ERP systems, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to turn financial data into strategic insights are essential. You’ll be a proactive problem-solver with excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills. We are happy also to consider those at a suitable level within the profession with relevant audit/accounts prep experience that are seeking a first move into industry.

Position Overview
The Finance Operations Manager will play a key role in developing and structuring the finance function. They will ensure compliance requirements are met, provide accurate and timely management reporting, and enhance functional processes and procedures. This role will focus on producing monthly KPI and management accounts, with reporting aligned to the company’s broader strategic objectives.

The individual will also line manage junior accountants and the accounts’ payable function, ensuring smooth and efficient processes alongside ongoing department development. The role will be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of financial information, implementing financial policies and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency as the business continues to evolve.
