Description

Rutherford Cross is recruiting a skilled Finance Business Partner, who will work closely with the operational teams of our client and service lines to support meaningful decision-making.

The Finance Business Partner position requires a finance professional preferably with a minimum of 3 years of experience gained working in a charity, industry or profession. You will have excellent communication skills, be passionate about adding value to an organisation and with impactful and meaningful financial analysis will support Senior Leaders make key decisions.

Regardless of background, the successful candidate needs to demonstrate energy, drive, enthusiasm for the role, and a commitment to the organisation’s mission and values.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing comprehensive finance business partnering services to senior managers and directors of operational teams across the organisation. This includes developing budgets and monitoring performance against these as well as assisting with service redesign and improvement
  • Providing and enhancing detailed analysis to aid decision making including developing new and innovative ways of reporting to aid effective decision making
  • Identifying and delivering improvements in processes and procedures
  • Understanding and being involved in the development of the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Being involved in business and planning meetings in partnership with the Senior Management team. Negotiating with key stakeholders and support staff to ensure agreed outcomes and timescales are achieved
  • Working with the wider finance team to improve communication, business protocols and business efficiency throughout the organisation and to share specialist knowledge as appropriate
  • Supporting business development as necessary in order to make funding applications in relation to operations
  • Providing key financial support to internal and external audits, ensuring compliance is maintained at all times

Key candidate requirements:

The organisation values and recognises relevant specialist skills and experience gained outside of education to be just as valuable as a degree. In this post, the organisation is looking for someone with relevant experience or a relevant degree or postgraduate diploma.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in finance business partnering / management accounting (Essential)
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality analysis to aid decision-making (Essential)
  • Candidates from all industry and sector backgrounds will be considered although experience working in care provision or charity environment would be advantageous (Desirable)

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience (Essential)
  • Relevant professional qualification – ACCA/CA/CIMA/ACA or qualified by experience (Essential)

Knowledge & skills:

  • A thorough understanding of budgeting, financial analysis and monthly financial reporting (Essential)
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills (Essential)
  • Strong analytical and critical skills, with the capacity to think objectively and demonstrate sound judgement (Essential)
  • Ability to provide constructive challenge and feedback to internal stakeholders (Essential)
  • Good attention to detail, and maintenance of accurate records and work papers (Essential)
  • High standards of ethics and integrity, particularly when handling confidential or sensitive information (Essential)
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior members of staff (Desirable)

Salary & benefits package:

  • Salary £49,635
  • Hours 37.5 hours
  • Annual Leave 30 days (under 5 years’ service); 33 days (over 5 years service)
  • 4 days public holidays and 2 paid wellbeing days off per year

Recruitment process:

There will be a two-stage interview process. The first stage will be with the Head of Finance and Finance Manager, and the second stage with the Head of Finance and COO.
