Description

Rutherford Cross is pleased to be exclusively partnered with an exciting high-growth manufacturing business in North Glasgow to appoint a Finance Manager. This represents a great opportunity for a suitably qualified accountant to join a growing business at a key point in its growth trajectory. Given the growth of the business, there is a strong possibility this role has the potential to grow into a Financial Controller position in due course.

Reporting into the FC and indirectly to the UK FD, the role itself offers broad and varied exposure to cost accounting, revenue recognition, fixed asset management, attention to detail, continual process improvement, operational business partnering and management accounting, amongst other things.

Ideally, we are looking to engage with Qualified / PQ / QBE accountants with prior experience in a business that deals with tangible goods. Previous experience in a manufacturing / FMCG business would be very advantageous although is not a pre-requisite. We are looking for someone who feels comfortable speaking to the business and someone who has the desire to business partner with operational staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving Cost Accounting Reporting and Processes with support from UK Financial Controller and US Sr. Cost Accountant
  • Creating and maintaining product-level standard costs in accordance with US GAAP
  • Collaborating with manufacturing personnel on the structure and validity of BOM and routing data
  • Collecting and studying data to determine the costs of business activities
  • Developing financial reports from accounting and information systems (specifically NetSuite) for use in forecasting, trending, and results analysis. Validating the accuracy of the financial results
  • Reconciling ending inventory balances to physical inventory count on monthly basis. Serving as owner of transactional data associated with inventory moves
  • Managing the excess and obsolete inventory reserves
  • Actively participating and providing leadership in various projects to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the plant related to the standard costs of individual product items
  • Participating in annual budgeting and standard cost roll
  • Performing and assisting with month-end financial close activities, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, and internal and statutory reporting
  • Managing Inter-company transactions and reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
  • Processing, monitoring, and reviewing fixed asset additions, transfers and disposals including any annual reporting need to auditors or parent company
  • Preparing VAT Returns and other government filings for review by the UK Controller as needed
  • Assisting in producing appropriate audit support per external auditors requests as necessary
  • Assisting the company in continuous improvement of Inventory, COGS, and other month-end close activities, compliance, and controls
  • Managing or assisting payroll processing with our third-party service group
  • Assisting and leading projects and initiatives to optimise the effectiveness of existing business applications, technologies, and systems, and to build efficiencies and improvements into current business processes
