Rutherford Cross is delighted to be exclusively partnered with a global FMCG business in Lanarkshire to appoint a Financial Accountant. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this sits within a group function and is responsible for all the financial, management and statutory accounting and reporting for Australia, New Zealand & Asia as well as partnering with local businesses.
This represents a great opportunity for a qualified accountant (ICAS / CIMA / ACCA) to join a successful global business in a role that offers development opportunities and potential paths for progression. You will report to an aspirational Financial Controller who has a track record of developing staff and offers significant flexibility with only one day per week expected in the office. Salary up to 52k +, excellent package including bonus as well as generous holidays and pension.
For this position, we are looking to engage with qualified accountants only as you will be signing off on statutory accounts. Happy to consider those in a Big 4 / mid-tier firm seeking a first move into the commercial industry or alternatively those already in industry seeking a step up, or even those qualified in industry (provided you have had exposure to financial reporting).
Key Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate submission of all statutory financial and management accounting and reporting for the APAC business regions according to reporting deadlines
- Timely and accurate submission of the monthly financials to group finance team for consolidation
- All fiscal and tax compliance reporting and submissions according to local requirements
- Accountable for both internal and external audits, including review of internal controls and policies
- Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis
- Protect company assets by enforcing controls and company policies
Key Result Areas:
- Ensure the fiscal and statutory requirements for the APAC business are observed in order for the company to be compliant with local legislation
- Month-end / year-end reporting for APAC business including completing monthly management accounts, operating expenses, group projects, exceptional items, taxation and miscellaneous income and expense
- Understand the strategy and performance of the APAC business in order to provide value add support to the business for key business decisions
- Communicate on a regular basis with APAC leadership and Group Finance
- Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements
- Responsible for the clear and concise communication of APAC results to the group and local management
- Pro-actively communicate deviations from expected financial performance
- Support the commercial activities of APAC by working directly with local management to measure, analyse and report on performance and profitability
