Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by a leading Retail and Distribution business based close to Falkirk to recruit for the role of Financial Controller. The business are private equity backed and have been highly acquisitive over the last few years putting them in a very strong position. Their Scottish Division is highly profitable with plenty of opportunity for future growth. Due to the current incumbent moving on to a new opportunity, the business is seeking to appoint an experienced, driven and highly commercial candidate who will report directly to the CFO with dotted line responsibility to the Scottish Managing Director. The role will be a key member of the Scottish management team with three direct reports. A summary of some of the key responsibilities are below:

  • Acting as a key Business Partner to Scottish Managing Director and Management Team to facilitate profitable growth of Scottish Division and delivery of budgeted and 3-year plan EBITDA, working capital and cashflow
  • Hands on team management and development
  • Working closely with the SSC responsible for monthly financial reporting
  • Responsible for the annual budget and rolling forecast
  • Working with the SSC to finalise transition of monthly balance sheet reconciliations to the SSC
  • Responsibility for ensuring appropriate control framework in place

For this role the business are seeking:

  • Fully qualified accountant with appropriate post qualification experience
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team and taking responsibility for team members development
  • Previous experience in a similar role at Financial Controller level or equivalent, in a fast moving and ideally multi-site business
  • Keen eye for detail, able to review processes, and suggest and drive improvements
  • Commercial mindset, able to support growth activities and demonstrate good financial planning and analysis ability
  • Previous Business Partnering experience with great communication and relationship building skills

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented finance professional who will have the opportunity to contribute to the organisation’s growth. The appointed individual will be a key member of the Senior Management Team in Scotland with great influence, as they will act as a Business Partner to the Management Team. Financial Planning and Analysis will be an integral part of this role and with the business being open to new acquisitions in the future it will provide plenty of commercial exposure. On offer is an attractive salary in the region of £70-75,000 DOE, car allowance, hybrid working and excellent bonus potential.
