In-house Corporate Tax Specialist

Glasgow

£Competitive + 10-15% annual bonus + benefits & attractive working hours

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join this in-house tax function in Glasgow in the role of Corporate Tax Specialist.  The role will support the delivery of taxation services to the business and in turn the Group Tax function in head office.  The successful candidate should have a proven track record in corporate tax gained from working in professional services and ideally have a basic knowledge of VAT

Key accountabilities as follows:

  • Prepare and submit the group's annual corporation tax returns (c30 in total)
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of the group's VAT returns, including adhoc monthly preparation and monthly peer review
  • Assist in the preparation of year end provisional computations and statutory account notes
  • Prove tax advisory support to the Group Tax Team as well as to the wider business
  • Provide ad hoc training to internal customers and support Group Tax in relation to tax matters
  • Take initiative in relation to tax projects, both to identify opportunities and ensure compliance with processes
  • Through continuous improvement ensure the tax proccesses are efficient and delivered in a right first time manner to the business and 3rd parties

Qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified or part qualified tax professional (ATT/CTA) with strong tax technical experience
  • Experience of preparing Corporation Tax returns essential
  • Experience of preparing VAT returns advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Professional in approach and dedicated to high standards, with excellent attention to detail and right first time mentality
  • Previous experience of Oracle and thomson Reuters ONESOURCE advantaegous
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work as part of a team are essential
  • The post requires an ability to work under pressure yet still provide exemplary customer service
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral are essential.
