Description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be engaged on a newly created Financial Controller position with the 4 star Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa in Peebles. Reporting directly to the Regional Financial Controller, this role will primarily focus on maintaining efficient and robust financial controls to ensure that all revenue and expenditure for the resort is recorded accurately. It will also be important that the successful candidate will be fully involved in the support of the weekly forecasting process to ensure that any risks/opportunities are highlighted and that all staffing and controllable costs are in line with volumes of business.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist operational management in the achievement of the Hotel’s business plan and provide support in the preparation of forecasting and budgets.
- Provide timely and accurate management information.
- Manage stocktaking and the reporting of variances.
- Develop cost control processes that add value to business efficiency.
- Ensure that hotel ratios are in line with budgeted figures i.e. staffing, cost of sales, and to play a role in providing solutions.
- Ensure that expenditure is controlled in accordance with guidelines and all other items / materials are within budget to maximise profit.
- Lead best practice purchasing techniques in line with company guidelines and to ensure that nominated suppliers are adhered to.
- Control all hotel cash and credit revenues of the hotel, and to ensure the banking of all receipts in accordance with company instructions.
- Establish and maintain procedures to ensure that credit is only extended to authorised personnel and companies and that Company instructions are observed.
- Sales ledgers are to be accurate and outstanding debts pursued in line with Company policy.
- Effectively manage the payroll to ensure that employee’s remuneration is accurate and a true reflection of the hours worked.
- Preparation of accurate period accounts in required format.
Candidate Requirements:
- Part Qualified Accountant / Qualified by experience
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Excellent IT systems knowledge
- Advanced Excel skills
