On Thursday 31st October, Fraser Burnett hosted the fourth instalment in the ‘Network of Tomorrow’ event series, this time in partnership with The Good Coffee Cartel. Fraser shares some highlights from the event and discusses plans for the series moving forward.
We are now four events into the ‘Network of Tomorrow’ event series and have a crowd of familiar faces, however, it was great to see the addition of several new ones at the event last month. With the purpose of the event series being to facilitate connections between the next generation of leaders in the Scottish intermediary market, welcoming new attendees provides more opportunities for connecting and starting meaningful relationships.
With each instalment, we aim to partner with local entrepreneurs and businesses across different sectors. This time we partnered with Todd Whiteford, Co-Founder at The Good Coffee Cartel, a speciality Coffee Roaster in Glasgow, to provide a coffee tasting session and a Q&A. Todd spoke to the guests about his entrepreneurial journey, what he views as measures of success, and how you couldn’t get a flat white in Glasgow before 2011!
At Livingston James Group, we are a purpose and values-led organisation. Our purpose is to advise and support people and organisations to realise their potential, so that together we can impact lives and communities for the better. This purpose, along with our core values, guides our behaviours and consequently, the experience our clients, candidates, colleagues and communities have when partnering with us.
During the Q&A with Todd, we discussed how passion equals success. Given that being passionate and determined is one of our values at Livingston James Group, this really resonated with me. He discussed how sticking to his values helped create the foundation for a business that stands the test of time in terms of reputation, customer loyalty, and success. When you’re passionate about your business, it becomes more than just a job or a way to make money—it becomes a way to make a positive impact and serve others. Combined with a strong commitment to your values, this passion creates a framework for ethical, sustainable success – something that we also strive for at Livingston James Group!
We would also like to give a nod to the Devil’s Roast for providing the perfect venue: If you haven’t visited yet, I highly recommend it. A massive thank you also to Todd at The Good Coffee Cartel for not only participating in an insightful Q&A but for supplying us with amazing coffee, delicious pastries and a fun coffee tasting session. We were incredibly lucky to have Craig Simpson come along to capture our event content, and the video has successfully managed to capture the essence of the Network of Tomorrow series.
As with the last three events, the feedback received from attendees was extremely positive. Having now hosted four events across Edinburgh and Glasgow, it’s clear that the Network of Tomorrow event series serves as a useful platform for building a stronger and more connected Scottish intermediary market.
Plans are already in place for the next two events in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, with our focus again being on creating a purposeful event, bringing good people together and, most importantly, having fun. Please get in touch with Fraser Burnett at [email protected] if you’d like to join us and be part of a growing network.
