Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland after Zurich. A 2009 survey by Mercer found that Geneva has the third highest quality of life of any city in the world and has been referred to as the world’s most compact metropolis and the “Peace Capital”. Geneva’s economy is mainly services oriented. The city has an important and old finance sector which is specialised in private banking (managing assets of about 1 trillion USD) and financial of international trade. There is also a long tradition of watchmaking as well as having two major international producers of flavours and fragrances with their headquarters and main production facilities in Geneva.

Switzerland as a whole is renowned for the snow-capped mountains and skiing and snowboarding in the winter wonderlands of Graubünden, Bernese-Oberland and Central Switzerland, but there is plenty to do when pastures are green.  Switzerland is the perfect anecdote of a surprise set of cities with Geneva offering endless shopping-chic possibilities which bounces off the picturesque landscape of Lake Geneva. Geneva can offer a taste of the whole world in one city! The UN, International Red Cross, International Labour Organisation, World Health Organisation are all headquartered in Geneva. This has encouraged exquisite four- and five-star hotels to be built and an incredulous choice of international cuisine to be on your doorstep along with luxury jewellers and chocolate shops, for which the city is well known for. Strolling through manicured city parks, sailing on the lake and skiing in the Alps next doors are hot weekend pursuits.
