This is a fantastic position for a recently qualified accountant from a big 4 or top 10 firm, looking to work in a project based role, providing regular interaction with Finance Directors from a number of business units. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, first-rate technical accounting skills and will have audited listed companies, conducting audits in line with IFRS standards.
The key purpose of the role is to assist in providing the technical advisory/IFRS support the business requires on a day to day basis. This will involve supporting all business units where you will be viewed as a specialist in your field. You will also assist in ensuring appropriate application of IFRS across the group.
This will result in high quality financial reporting and assist in the clear communication of any significant impacts arising from new accounting standards or complex transactions to senior management within the group.
Duties will include:
- Contribute and assist in the IFRS technical support provided to the business units in resolving significant accounting issues including acquisition accounting, impairments and reorganisations
- Regular liaison with the business units/key stakeholders to understand and track the accounting issues they are responsible for
- Liaison with Financial Accounting team and other group functions on relevant issues to ensure that these teams are kept up to date with new transactions and the accounting for these transactions
- Remaining fully abreast of IFRS developments. This will involve considering new accounting standards and amendments and preparing a summary of the potential impact on the business
- Where the new standard/amendment has a major impact, the role will have significant involvement in the implementation project, which will include communication with senior management across the group
The successful candidate will:
- Posses strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally IFRS , although FRS 102 may be suitable
- Have experience and exposure to resolving technical accounting issues
- Posses effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to build a wide network and present to various levels
- Have the ability to manage a varied workload, with a reasonable number of projects at a time, regularly reassessing priorities
On offer:
- Salary £40,000-£46,000
- Bonus up to 10%
