Rutherford Cross are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading tax consulting practise based in the South East Asia region.  We are assisting in the search of a Tax Senior Manager with strong tax advisory experience.

The role will be based in Yangon where the right candidate will be expected to manage and develop a list of key clients within the Myanmar market. A key part of the role will be to advise and consult with new investments and potential companies looking to set up in this developing market. There will also be a team of around 3 junior staff members that will be looking for guidance and mentoring. Client projects can vary from energy to leisure depending on the complexity and nature.  Infrastructure is an ongoing project in Myanmar and many key projects will be linked to the ongoing construction of developing the country.

Myanmar, also known as Burma is a fascinating location and actually one of the largest in the world – with around 50 million people living there.  Myanmar has had a turbulent past and still has a long way to reach its full potential but it shows promise and more importantly economic growth. Myanmar is rich in oil, natural gas, minerals and gems and can, with the right infrastructure and human development, can become a very key global country in business.

The right person for this role is someone who is passionate about working in a developing country. The key skills for working in this role is advisory. Someone who is strong in consulting an advising clients about investment and company start-ups is important. A sound knowledge in tax systems, complex tax issues and ideally experience of working in the South East Asia region.

The essentials for this role would need to be a minimum of 6 to 12 years’ experience working in a accounting / tax role – within a Big 4 would be preferred, A professional qualification / master’s degree is important.
