Ideally, we are looking to engage with qualified accountants who have strong technical knowledge and robust communication skills both written and verbal. You will likely be currently or previously working in a Big 4 / medium-sized firm as an Assistant Manager / Manager and seeking to transition into industry, or already in industry and looking for a step up into a role with more responsibility.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Regularly liaising with the business units / key stakeholders to understand and track accounting issues you will be responsible for
  • Preparing accounting papers for the issues you will be responsible for, for review by senior management
  • Assisting in, and at times lead, the technical support provided to the business units in resolving significant accounting issues including acquisition accounting, impairments, reorganisations and accounting for joint arrangements
  • Liaising with Group Control teams and other Corporate functions on relevant issues to ensure that these teams are kept up to date with new transactions and the accounting for these
  • Remaining fully abreast of developments in IFRS / FRS 101 standards, relevant listing rules, and pronouncements from the Financial Reporting Council and other relevant bodies e.g., sustainability boards. This will involve considering new accounting standards, amendments and relevant reports, as well as preparing a summary of the potential impact on the business
  • Where the new standard / amendment has a major impact, the role will have significant involvement in the implementation project, which will include communication with senior management across the group
  • Preparing and / or reviewing statutory accounts for a small number of legal entities and prepare allocated
  • Supporting and reviewing the output of junior members of the team providing guidance as and when required
