Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk and Data Analyst to join a growing PLC based in Edinburgh.

You will be responsible for managing and enhancing the analytics capability and insight, leading on the development and delivery of Operational Risk related data and insights to support the team in understanding performance and opportunities, shaping our priorities, and developing our capability in predictive analytics.

Working closely with the Group Risk team, you will support all Risk Data Processes, Evaluation and Visualisation. The role holder will also support the business in the end-to-end control design, implementation and improvements of Risk Data Processes.

Main accountabilities include:

  • Monitoring of risk using Integrated Risk Management Software (IRMS) and BI toolkit.
  • Creation of portfolio/risk analysis reports.
  • Production of Risk Dashboard templates for automated performance statistics.
  • Responsible for design of risk visualisation and correlation data output.
  • Recognise, identify, and improve data processes.
  • Data Flow automation's and migrations, and data systems integration with multiple system interfaces.
  • Support business users in the development of Risk based analytics and dashboard automation.
  • Constructive engagement in the development of the safety database and tool kit.
  • Interpret data from IRMS analyse and provide insight to the Risk team and wider business, with a specific view to identify trend and interrelated cause and effect.
  • Provide logical and well-articulated recommendations to improve performance, effectively communicating findings both verbally and in writing.
  • Lead on any data and insight requirements for operational risk related activities.
  • Conduct route cause analysis providing advice and insight to drive the business forward.
  • Develop and maintain functionality to identify any operational and regulatory risks, escalating as appropriate.
  • Operate and support development of risk data information systems to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.

Candidate requirements

  • Strong data analytics skills (Excel, SQL).
  • Proven track record of data analysis and system improvements.
  • Understanding of application management.
  • Will possess a degree in data analytics or similar numerate degree.
  • Technically competent with MI/BI systems.
  • Designed and implemented solutions for data reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of using complex data structures.
  • Confidence and creditability with the ability to effectively communicate information and knowledge assertively, whilst demonstrating empathy with colleague’s diverse challenges.
  • Experience in a Risk Analytics environment would be ideal but not essential.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills.
  • Ability to present complex concepts and results in a way tailored to the audience in a persuasive and compelling way.
