Description

Circularity Scotland is seeking an experienced Reporting Accountant to join the team. This is a start-up with big ambitions, huge challenges and opportunities; and the Reporting Accountant will have the capabilities, experience and attitude to slot straight in and start delivering quickly. CSL requires a driven individual who is passionate about building the corporate entity. This will involve working in a fast-paced early-stage business whilst also being able to build the infrastructure of a large corporate entity (team, systems, controls & processes).

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

The Pre-Go Live Accounting package is Sage One (cloud-based software). Accounting will transition to a new finance platform to directly interface with the core DRS systems once designed. The Reporting Accountant will be involved in the testing of the core solution and designing the reporting required to satisfy internal Board reporting, Statutory Reporting, bank covenant reporting and Regulatory reporting to SEPA.

Pre- Go Live Responsibilities:

  • Establish robust financial processes & controls for a ‘start-up’ company
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for Board and Key Stakeholders
  • Optimise reporting functionality of Sage One
  • Work with Senior Reporting Manager to devise CSL reporting suite within the ERP
  • Produce Actual vs Forecast variance analysis
  • Rolling cash forecast modelling and reporting
  • Review quarterly VAT returns, currently prepared by external accountants
  • Provide assistance to the Head of Finance for year-end audit and accounts preparation
  • Prepare internal business partnering reports

Scale-up Responsibilities:

  • Testing of the core solution and interfaces to finance and reporting package
  • Establish new finance system (which replaces Sage One)

Post- Go Live Responsibilities:

  • HMRC reporting (tax, VAT, payroll taxes)
  • External Statutory reporting
  • Liaise with Services Team on core systems / finance systems interface issues
  • Work across Finance to ensure completeness of reporting
  • Liaise with Auditors as part of the Year End Audit process
  • Internal Business Partnering Reporting
  • Board Reports
  • Bank Covenant compliance monitoring & reporting

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Qualified Accountant with appropriate post qualification experience working in a commercial role
  • Financial Modelling experience required for forecasting cash flows
  • Experienced working across teams to deliver robust business intelligence and business partnering
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and able to see projects through to the end
  • An energetic and enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, guide and gain influence
  • Budget and project management experience
  • Experience of working with senior level staff and developing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Extremely systems literate with the ability to connect the Core DRS system data to financial output
  • Excellent Team player – both within finance and across the organisation

Desirable:

  • Balance of start-up vs corporate working
  • Knowledge of the drinks and/or waste management industries
