Rutherford Cross is delighted to once again be working with Springfield Properties, this time to recruit for a Regional Head of Finance for the Northern Region.

Springfield was listed on the AIM market in 2017 and has grown considerably since then through a combination of organic growth and by acquiring Dawn Homes, Walker Group, Tulloch Homes and the Scottish housebuilding business of Mactaggart and Mickel. These acquisitions strengthened Springfield’s position in key regions of Scotland.

Earlier this year, Springfield announced that its future growth will be focused on the North of Scotland to help accommodate the demand for new homes. It is a pivotal moment for the North of Scotland with investment in UK Government-financed energy infrastructure, presenting substantial opportunities for economic growth and an increase in housing development across tenures. This role will be at the centre of this growth.

The role of Regional Head of Finance will report to the Finance Director and will be focused on providing strategic insight, financial leadership, and robust reporting for the Northern region. Based across both North offices (Elgin / Inverness), this is a senior position with exposure to Group and reporting into Group. You will lead a dedicated finance team and work closely with regional leaders to ensure strong performance and financial control.

A summary of some of the key duties include:

• Leading the regional finance function, managing and developing a high-performing team
• Driving the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts, reporting into Group
• Working with regional directors to prepare quarterly reports for submission to Group finance
• Overseeing Cost Variance Reports (CVRs), cash flow management, and performance monitoring across the region
• Providing detailed financial analysis and insight to the Regional Managing Directors to support decision-making
• Providing accurate and timely information to support annual and interim reporting cycles and external audit requirements
• Reviewing and improving financial processes and internal controls to support efficiency and growth
• Partnering with commercial and operational colleagues to support day to day activities, manage risk, and support decision making

Candidate Requirements

• Fully Qualified Accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA), with appropriate post qualification experience
• Highly technical with a strong track record in financial reporting, ideally with listed company experience
• Highly commercially astute with significant experience in influencing commercial decision making
• Demonstrable expertise in CVRs is preferable, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
• Experience of leading, motivating, and developing a finance team
• Process and systems orientated, experienced in driving changes in this area and ensuring strong adherence to controls
• High levels of attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence across finance, operations, and build relationships across functions
• Flexibility to travel to the Central Belt when required
• Housebuilding experience desirable
