Description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a hugely successful global business, based on the outskirts of Glasgow, to appoint a Project Accountant. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project actual and forecast financial performance.
This role involves robustly challenging actual and forecast costs to drive continuous cost improvement, reliable data and financial analysis to be used in decision making and planning throughout the business.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Preparation of project baseline budget and EAC reforecasts in collaboration with the Project Team
- Perform Value of Work Done (VOWD) assessments throughout the project life, identify and mitigate slippages, and escalate issues to management
- Provide forecast project revenue and margin information for quarterly forecasts and the annual budget process
- Conduct cost variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, and identify opportunities, risks, and mitigations for the project manager
- Ensure accurate allocation of costs to cost accounts/work orders, review coding of requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, variations, reconciling costs to the General Ledger, and investigating variances
- Prepare regular internal and external project reports for management and customers
- Collaborate in the preparation of variation order requests/claims and relevant follow-up, assisting the Project Manager in the evaluation of changes as required
- Facilitate and participate in lessons learned sessions on project delivery, providing feedback to improve future project delivery
- Assist project planning to define and maintain detailed Work Breakdown Structures
- Perform other relevant duties/tasks as assigned by the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Excellent analytical review skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail
- PQ ICAS/ACCA/CIMA qualification is an advantage
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Engineering is an advantage
- Proven track record in a similar role
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
