Our client is one of the largest and most profitable independent firms of Tax & Business Advisors in the UK. The firm has won numerous national awards and achieved IIP accreditation for the 13th year running in 2014.
The current opportunity has arisen due to the continued success of the private client tax division and the market opportunities which are perceived to exist in the future. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified (CTA/STEP/LLB) tax professional currently operating at Senior Manager, Director or Partner level in a reputable firm of accountants, tax advisors or lawyers. The role will involve working with high net worth individuals, their businesses, their families and future generations to understand complex tax implications and assist clients in planning effectively to protect their assets.
Tax Technical Responsibilities:
- Support the firms’ Partners and other Directors in the provision of tax advice to clients
- Deliver advice on tax projects including:
- Quantifying possible IHT exposure
- Advising on making gifts during lifetime and utilising available reliefs
- Utilising trust planning where appropriate
- Advising on the structure and succession of family businesses to minimise IHT exposure
- Pre-sale planning to preserve reliefs
- Advising on tax implications of shareholder protection agreements
- Advising on and seeking available HMRC clearances where appropriate
- Tax efficient will planning
- Assisting executors with IHT reporting and other taxes Advising on domicile and non-domicile status for clients
- Capital Gains Tax planning
- UK and offshore trusts
- Managing HMRC Investigations
- Review of complex personal tax returns
- Oversee the compliance process of trust and estate taxes
- Support team by reviewing advice letters/communications to clients
- Give proactive and reactive advice to staff on technical, quality, compliance and ethical issues
Key attributes of the successful candidate are expected to include:
- Current Senior Manager/Director or Partner with a reputable firm that has a proven, strong private client base
- An ability to understand and present financial accounts
- Track record of private client, family office and/or rural client work
- Demonstrable track record of success with regular, timely career progression
- Ambitious and driven, looking for opportunity to take the lead
- Capable of leading an experienced technical team with ability to influence Partner group
