Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnering with a growing renewables business based in Edinburgh looking to appoint an Assistant Financial Controller. This is a newly created role due to the on going impressive growth the business has seen throughout 2020.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review financial transactions and present key trends to Financial Controller, including overseeing direct and indirect cost allocation, fixed assets additions and bank entries
  • Examine transactional data and check for discrepancies, and suggest process improvements and staff training where necessary
  • Prepare and distribute departmental cost analysis reports to relevant stakeholders
  • Feed into planning process, including providing data analysis to understand and qualify budgets
  • Drive improvements in month-end process
  • Support junior team members by delivering relevant training
  • Prepare detailed indirect cost analysis for inclusion in monthly reporting pack
  • Prepare and verify routine payment runs
  • Support creation of rolling cash flow forecasts in line with treasury policy
  • Actively support and promote the standards, policies and procedures of the company
  • Provide on-going support to wider business in relation to technical accounting queries
  • Prepare monthly GL reconciliations and ensure any imbalances investigated and fixed
  • Prepare and post monthly journals, such as accruals, prepayments and direct cost allocation
  • Prepare and review quarterly VAT return
  • Support yearly audit process, including planning and audit process improvement

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/CA) (essential)
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Strong Excel skills (essential)
  • Experience in a similar role (essential)
  • Ability to drive change and process improvements
  • Ability to work with high volumes of data
  • Excellent team player who can develop effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
