Rutherford Cross has been retained by a CALA Homes Ltd, to identify a high calibre Accountant to undertake a key role within the business. The Management Accountant position is multi-faceted incorporating a blend of accounting, commercial decision support and key stakeholder management. This role provides the individual with a privileged position within the company facilitating exposure to commercial and operational teams across the regions, as well as key personnel in the corporate structure. Operating in a dynamic and fast paced working environment, this opportunity requires an individual with the capacity and flexibility to adapt their approach to ensure the wider finance team achieves its goals while meeting the needs of a diverse stakeholder group.
Job Description
Reporting to Regional Finance Director level, this is a hands-on finance role that requires an individual with commitment, drive, and ambition. The ability to build relationships with and influence stakeholders is a key requirement as this role involves significant interaction with internal business areas including Sales, Commercial, Land, Construction and Customer Services. The Management Accountant will be tasked with identifying opportunities to implement improvements which reduce costs, increase efficiency, and maximise net contribution while driving bottom line profit.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Production of monthly regional management accounts including journal postings, accruals, cost of sales, cashflow, variance analysis, and associated commentary
- Implementation of ‘best in practice’ financial processes and procedures appropriate to the needs of the business, delivering a continuous improvement approach
- Ensure a culture of commercial awareness is promoted and maintained across the company through effective business support
- Liaise with non-finance internal stakeholders and provide high quality MI, budgetary support and key financial analysis
- Review and approve weekly cashflow reports and supplier payment runs
- Check and approve regional monthly reconciliations and controls
- Ensure all balance sheet controls are in place and a monthly control file is maintained
- Provide a year-end pack to Group for statutory accounts consolidation and liaise with external auditors regarding any accounting queries
- Ensure compliance with regulations including VAT, SDLT and relevant accounting standards
A strong track record of achievement both academically and professionally is preferred given the nature and requirements of this position. Commercial acumen and an understanding of key business drivers are also essential to be successful in the role.
