Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by Klarent Hospitality to appoint multiple Management Accountant positions to their Glasgow HQ.

Klarent Hospitality are the market leaders in hotel investment and management. They currently manage a portfolio of 27 hotels in the UK and Ireland, trading under prestigious, international brands such as Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, Mercure and Ibis Styles.

Rebranded in 2021 Klarent’s predecessor Amaris Hospitality was created under LoneStar ownership in 2015. In the last eight years, the Klarent team has developed a proven track record in delivering operational excellence, exceptional customer experiences and superior service and shareholder returns through people development, active operational management and smart capital investment.

The business currently has circa 3,000 employees and a hotel portfolio covering Scotland, England and Ireland. Klarent Hospitality is owned by Henderson Park Capital Partners, a private equity real estate firm headquartered in London that has clocked up over $13bn in real estate investment deals since 2019.

Background to Current Opportunity:

The Management Accountant role is a key financial control role that reports directly into the Senior Finance Business partner for the group. You will be responsible for taking Management Accountants to final review and getting involved with a wide variety of other activities, including presenting results to hotel GMs, managing banking & other transactional activities and supporting the business on change initiatives, as well as commercial activities including budgeting and forecasting. The role will be a welcome addition to the already established finance function.

This role is newly created following a period of significant growth and scaling of the business and supports the appetite for further growth. There will be many opportunities to progress to more senior roles for the right candidate who has a strong impact as the business continues to expand.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Management Accounts:

  • Preparation of monthly management accountants in accordance with agreed timetables
  • Management and maintenance of accruals and pre-payment schedules
  • Preparation of month-end reports to stakeholders
  • Relationship management and discussion facilitation of month-end results with key stakeholders
  • Review and reconciliation of business balance sheets
  • Processing journals via accounting system

Banking:

  • Uploading bank / PMS transactions and daily banking
  • Completing bank and credit card reconciliations, managing discrepancies with urgency and accuracy
  • Monitoring and reporting of bank balances
  • Analysing cash movements in the bank
  • Processing ad hoc payments and salary deductions

Audit / Payroll:

  • Supporting internal and external audit requirements
  • Reconciliation of payroll control accounts

Business:

  • Supporting the general financial control to ensure stewardship of accurate financial information
  • Addressing key business areas to manage risk and improve efficiency of process
  • Supporting the implementation of change initiatives
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners & General Managers in budgeting and forecasting processes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Well-honed communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Fully Qualified (ICAS / CIMA / ACCA) or Part-Qualified Accountant with a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Excellent personal presentation with a warm and welcoming personality
  • Strong eye for detail

On offer is an attractive salary of up to circa £42,000 dependent on experience.
