Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by United Brands to appoint a Management Accountant.

Headquartered in East Kilbride, the Food & Beverage division currently operates across 4 main brands with the portfolio set to expand over the next 12 to 18 months

The most well-known brand is GDK (German Doner Kebab) which has taken Europe and the Middle East by storm with restaurants thriving in the UK, Europe and Middle East and rapid expansion targeted across numerous new territories including the recent openings in North America

The position of Management Accountant with United Brands has been created in response to the increased demand across GDK locations whilst also supporting the projected number of new locations set to launch this year.

The Management Accountant will take ownership of the day-to-day processing whilst also collating and analysing trading data to support commercial business decisions alongside accurate financial reporting. This is a highly visible role working closely with the United Brands Commercial Finance Manager and where required, providing an element of support to the F&B Finance Director undertaking detailed analysis at their request.

Given the exposure of the position, it is essential that the individual has the ability to build effective and robust working relationships within finance and across all departments of the company.  The post holder will possess a strong work ethic, taking responsibility for their duties and, also having a willingness to support the Finance Director on key objectives if required.

The position requires a confident individual with a keen eye for detail, with strong analytical skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders across levels of the business. Although the role reports to the Finance Manager, it is expected that the appointed to this role, will have the confidence to work directly with the F&B Finance Director where required. it is important very important that the individual will also be able to take ownership of duties. It is preferrable that the individual will have worked in a F&B or FMCG business where they will have been tasked with working closely with the operations teams across the business to support high levels of growth.

Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Processing all Purchase Ledger Invoices / Credits including entry onto the financial system / document management systems
  • Pay suppliers invoices on due dates & update ledgers
  • Reconcile supplier accounts to statements.
  • Download Monthly Turnover and invoice all Royalty & Marketing Fees
  • Invoice fees in line with Franchise Development agreements
  • Invoice all stock supplied to supplier / franchise partners
  • Chase overdue amounts
  • Download Bank Statement and Import to Accounts Package and update supplier and customer accounts – Daily
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliation
  • Reconcile all Control Accounts at Month End and provide schedules for all control accounts.
  • Posting monthly journals
  • Checking bank accounts for sign off by Finance Manager
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Assist in the preparation of the Profit and loss and balance sheet reports
  • Assistant in the Investigation and explanation of variances in the Management Accounts
  • Weekly cash projections
  • Support budget and forecast preparation
  • Liaise with suppliers / resolve all queries on a weekly basis
  • Analysis / other duties as required

Experience:

  • Part, fully or qualified by experience accountant
  • Ideally, experience within Food and Beverage or consumer goods environments
  • Prior experience in a management accounting role
  • Strong budget and forecasting background
  • Exposure to working in a fast moving, complex organisation

  • Knowledge of current finance best practice

Remuneration:

Salary: up to £40K

Pension: Employee contribution 2% & employer 3%

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Holidays: 20 days holiday plus statutory holiday
