Description

The is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Investment Research Analyst to join a boutique investment firm based in Edinburgh. The firm focuses on the European market looking at opportunities in healthcare, animal health, agriculture and specialty chemicals. The business model adopts a long-term investment strategy and will look to take material to controlling stakes in small to medium size companies with strong product and growth opportunities.

A unique opportunity to join a startup investment holding company which will provide you with an accelerated career path and the opportunity to work directly with the Directors in the Group. You will have the opportunity to get far closer to the deals and assets than within a traditional firm and you will have the ability to really shape the role itself over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of potential investments. This would include target identification, assisting in due diligence, building and maintaining financial models, valuation, understanding sector dynamics and evaluation of management and operations
  • Work with the wider advisory team and 3rd party corporate advisers to prepare investment proposals
  • Assist in the negotiation, structuring and execution of transactions
  • Assist the client in evaluating and maintaining an on-going understanding of companies post investment

Requirements:

  • Excellent academic track record (minimum 2:1 degree). It would be desirable to have a background in one of the following subjects: Economics, Law, Finance or Mathematics. A post graduate qualification such as CFA / MBA would also be viewed very positively
  • At least seven years’ experience within a blue-chip firm (accounting, fund/asset management, or banking) with significant experience undertaking research and analysis
  • Robust financial and analytical skill set, experience of financial modelling and valuations skills
  • Demonstrable experience of writing well-argued and concise reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Willing to engage in significant, often and independent travel
