International Tax Manager - Financial Services

Edinburgh City Centre

An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join a high quality in-house tax team in this leading financial services organisation headquartered in Central Edinburgh.  Ideally suited to a qualified CA/CTA with excellent UK corporate tax knowledge and a desire to further career in an international tax capacity.  Further description below:

Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Tax, the role holder will support the growing international business, coordinating local tax compliance requirements and working closely with the business to provide tax input into new overseas business initiatives.

The individual will be responsible for overseeing the corporate tax compliance and reporting requirements across a range of countries, coordinating advisors and liaising with local business contacts to meet the local tax obligations in each territory.  The role will also provide exposure to a wider range of tax areas, including advisory projects relating to the overseas businesses, the impacts of global mobility across the organisation and assessing the effect of changes to tax rules on international operations.

The individual will work with a variety of business areas across a range of territories and the role offers the opportunity to utilise and enhance relationship building skills.  It will also enable the role-holder to develop a strong understanding of the wider commercial considerations for the business.

 

Key Outcomes

  • Manage the corporation tax compliance and reporting requirements for overseas operations
  • Understand and monitor the scope of activities carried on by the business overseas to ensure that all relevant tax requirements are identified and met
  • Keep up to date with relevant UK and overseas taxation changes and advise business areas of any implications that may arise
  • Working with other members of the tax team, provide research and input into advisory projects relating to the overseas businesses
  • Provide support on global mobility issues to ensure tax impacts for the business are addressed
  • Assist in maintenance and development of policies in relation to transfer pricing and controlled foreign companies
  • Work closely with other tax colleagues to ensure tax issues relevant to other areas of the Group are understood and considered as part of the above activities

Qualifications/Experience

  • Qualified accountant CA/ACCA or CTA
  • Proven UK corporate tax experience gained in practice or industry
  • Exposure to international tax issues an advantage but not essential

Core Knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of UK taxation law & preferably some European tax or North America tax experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practice
