The Opportunity:

  • To manage the firm's client portfolios effectively
  • To manage and develop employees within the team in order to ensure the delivery of a quality service to the client
  • To develop positive working relationships with other teams

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Ensure work progresses in line with team procedures and within budget, to the expected timescales and that a high quality file is prepared in compliance with the firm’s standards and procedures
  • Apply all relevant technical disclosures to client work
  • Manage the expectations of clients and ongoing client relationships through appropriate and timely communication
  • Prepare for and attend client meetings, including audit committee meetings
  • Manage work in progress on client portfolio against agreed budgets, maximise recoveries on client portfolio against agreed targets, prepare fees as appropriate and highlight any potential problems ahead of time
  • Identify relevant planning, technical and business issues specific to a client, i.e. tax / fraud / risk related issues and suggest solutions to the client engagement partner
  • Manage time effectively and know when to communicate potential issues to partner
  • Arrange regular communication with client engagement partner regarding their clients
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, be involved in client seminars and training sessions as required

Business Development

  • Actively seek new business development opportunities for the firm using market knowledge and event attendance
  • Involved in tendering opportunities through research / drafting tenders / presentations
  • Draft articles / thought pieces for e-bulletins / PS publications
  • Attend networking events, for example run by professional bodies
  • Manage ad hoc projects
  • Participate in at least one sector group
  • Develop a personal business develop plan

 

Leadership

  • Acts as an ambassador of the firm
  • Involved in the management and identification of employee resource requirements for clients and the overall team
  • Promotes a positive working environment within the team and with other teams
  • Develops employees in all teams if appropriate, identifying training needs and ensuring training is delivered using the most appropriate methods
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day management of those which you line manage; monitor timesheets, holidays, study leave, absence levels and ensure that all time is recorded accurately and that WIP and recoveries are managed within agreed targets.
  • Conducts appraisals (ROAD process), ensuring two-way discussions take place and training and development plans are agreed, ensuring regular feedback to employees when jobs are complete
  • Liaises with other teams on their involvement in client work to ensure agreed deadlines will be met
  • Acts as a professional role model to others within the team and firm in all dealings with colleagues and clients
  • Monitors and maintain records of progress against own chargeable hours budgets, communicate individual fee/work in progress targets to team members and ensures that all time is recorded, is accurate and is maintained on a daily basis
  • Acts as coach to others and provide support to junior employees working on assignments
  • Involved in non-chargeable activity which contributes to the development of the public sector and internal audit team e.g. training, graduate recruitment, business development, contributing to achievement of strategic, sector and business plans
