Rutherford Cross are assisting a well-known commercial business in Edinburgh with the recruitment of a Financial Controller on an interim basis. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the interim Financial Controller will lead a number of finance projects as part of a wider business transformation strategy. These will include but are not limited to systems and process improvements; standardisation of processes and approach across the finance function; streamlining month-end reporting; improving balance sheet control; and co-ordination of insurances.

The interim Financial Controller position requires a professionally qualified accountant from a commercial background with demonstrable experience of financial control and project delivery in a change orientated business environment. Experience of leading and managing change, and a continuous improvement outlook would be highly advantageous.

• Qualified Accountant with PQE gained in industry
• Excellent technical foundation in accounting
• Experience of operating at a senior management level
• Confident communicator at every level, with strong inter-personal skills
• Commercial thinking, drive, ambition, and professionalism
• Ability to delegate effectively and manage the delivery of multiple projects
• Ability to evaluate the financial implications of strategic changes affecting the business and translate these into detailed change requirements which deliver results
• Experience of operating in an environment of continuous improvement, supporting managers and leaders to identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency
