Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with   one of the largest transport operators in Scotland to appoint a newly created FC position.

In this newly created role, reporting directly into the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the
running of the Financial Accounting and Reporting function. The post-holder will be tasked with transforming the function to deliver excellence in service, quality and efficiency, based on previous experience where you have led and driven change successfully within a Finance team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day to day management of the following teams within Finance: Financial Accounting, Taxation, Reporting and Analytics, Banking & Cash Management, Accounts
    Payable, Accounts Receivable, Insurance and Records Management
  • Ownership of the Group consolidated accounts, and intercompany transactions. Maintaining an in depth understanding of all financials through continuous review and challenge
  • Responsible for the annual statutory accounts and associated tax filings, in conjunction with the external accountants
  • Oversee the preparation of regulatory reporting including HMRC Returns
  • Lead and deliver the Group Annual Planning Process
  • Take ownership for the delivery of Group monthly financial reporting to the Senior Leadership team
  • Oversee the cashflow forecasting and banking / cash management processes for the Group
  • Take a lead on establishing best in class systems and processes for financial data management and
    analysis
  • Direct and control the advance recognition and implementation of changes in IFRS, and provide technical guidance on complex accounting issues and the Group's consolidation reporting systems
  • Ensure strong systems of financial governance and controls are in place and operating effectively within the teams under remit
  • Help drive the improvement of Finance service delivery to other areas within the business
  • Work closely with technology and other stakeholders to drive continuous enhancement of system capabilities, controls and process efficiency
  • Provide ongoing support to the Finance Director on a range of Finance related projects as and when required

Applicants must be fully qualified ICAS, ACCA or CIMA with a proven track record in managing teams through a period of change and continuous improvement. Candidates must be able to demonstrate confidence, and be able to lead and influence internal and external stakeholders.
