Rutherford Cross is delighted to be supporting a global business with a highly successful track record in their market as well as having recently experienced significant growth and change due to acquisition. The business are looking to add a Head of Management Accounts on a permanent basis and this role will be focused on leading the management accounting function for a specific division as well as having extensive stakeholder engagement. Working as part of a well structured and professional finance team, this role will provide autonomy for a confident leader to manage the management accounts team during a very important period for the business. A summary of some of main duties are below:

  • Lead the month-end process, working to tight reporting deadlines and ensuring accuracy. Review monthly journals
  • Take the lead on accounting for non-standard transactions including acquisitions, restructures, dividends etc. and work with Corporate Accounting to have these recorded
  • Manage a team of 3 accountants while also working closely with local accounting staff, other Glasgow-based accounting teams, Corporate Accounting and the outsourced function
  • Setting objectives and driving performance and improvements while ensuring all team members are helped with their development
  • Manage the month-end reconciliations process to ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.  Participate in quality reviews of reconciliations and ensure required improvements are made
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, delegating appropriately throughout the team while reviewing the output
  • Build relationships within the wider finance function and regional teams
  • Ensure SOX requirements are fully met
  • Take the lead on ad-hoc projects and technical tasks as required for the Senior Finance Manager and the wider senior finance team
  • Work on centralising accounting tasks which remains with regional finance teams.  Determine the tasks which should be centralised and lead the process of transitioning those tasks
  • Take the lead on the roll-out of a new accounting package

 

This role is offering an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is wanting autonomy in a management role as well as having a clear path for progression. The role is offering exposure at FD/CFO level in different regions and has a large element of business partnering involved. There will also be project work involved including the roll out of a new system. The organisation are seeking a fully qualified accountant – CA/ACCA/CIMA who is ideally from a professional services background and has had exposure to working with larger businesses. Communication and influencing skills are key as well as being able to demonstrate previous experience/ability in managing a team. The company are offering an excellent salary of up to £55,000 with great benefits and a hybrid working model long-term.
