Description

Rutherford Cross is supporting a fast-growing, multi-site business to recruit for the role of Head of Finance. The role will focus on leading the finance team with full responsibility for all aspects of the Company's finance function.

Key areas of focus will include monitoring actual performance against budget, explaining variances against budget / previous year and advising on any required action as well as developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control of the company’s business.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing annual budgets and supporting the business in achieving these budgets
  • Providing financial input to the Management Board on special projects
  • Managing procedures and systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information
  • Monitoring actual performance against budget, explain variances against budget and previous year and advise on any required action
  • Managing working capital
  • Liaising with external tax advisers
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring direct reports as part of the company’s ongoing succession strategy, providing motivational leadership to assist with personal and professional development
  • Assisting with people matters, such as recruitment and selection, absence and performance management, training and development and culture and engagement
  • Contributing to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy
  • Providing financial advice and guidance to the company's managers and staff to enable them to achieve their objectives
  • Overseeing the preparation of the company's financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time
  • Overseeing the payroll function to ensure employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner
  • Working with your team to ensure achievement of objectives / targets and continuously developing improvement initiatives

This is an exciting opportunity which could offer the right candidate the opportunity to progress to Finance Director over time. The company is seeking an experienced people leader with demonstrative experience of providing coaching and mentoring to aid personal and professional development.

Drive and enthusiasm will be key in order to make sustainable and long-lasting improvements to maximise business performance, as well as being commercially astute and able to problem solve. The role requires a fully qualified accountant who has excellent communication skills and has held a previous role as part of a senior leadership team.
