The Opportunity
The Group Accountant vacancy represents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual with first class technical accounting skills coupled with the ability to engage with cross functional stakeholders. As a key member in the finance team this individual will be tasked with providing support for the financial reporting of the monthly internal management accounts, the end of year published statutory accounts and the financial planning process.
This role is critical as the successful individual will have responsibility for a number of tasks that will give exposure across all functions and levels of the business, including the Executive Directors.
The Role
The primary purpose of the role is to provide support for the financial reporting of the monthly internal management accounts, the six monthly interim review, the end of year published statutory accounts and the financial planning process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consolidate set of monthly management accounts including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Management accounting for the Corporate, Finance, IT, Personnel, regional office cost centres and assisting in the setting of their annual and six monthly operating budgets
- Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month
- Assisting in the preparation of the interim
- Preparing the turnover analysis required for market announcements
- Assisting in all corporate taxation compliance matters including VAT and Corporation tax whilst reinforcing the actions that need to be taken by all functions to comply with current legislation
- Assisting in the preparation of the Corporation tax and VAT returns
- Liaising with external auditors, pension advisors, HM Revenue and Customs and professional accounting bodies as required
- Providing technical guidance to the Finance team on all areas of accounting as required and assisting in the development of appropriate reporting and accounting models for internal and external reporting purposes
- Develop the financial planning process to allow the business to accurately plan its profitability and cash flows for the annual budget, the rolling 12 month cash flow and the three and five year business plans.
- Assisting in the annual and half year analysis of the intangible asset valuations, banking covenants compliance and financial headroom
The Candidate
The Group Accountant position requires a professionally qualified accountant with first class technical accounting skills who is seeking their first move out of the profession or already working within industry.
The ability to build relationships with and influence internal stakeholders, including working alongside non-finance teams, is a key requirement. As the group is about to undertake a period of growth, the role requires an individual who is flexible, robust and able to work on a variety of projects at any given one time.
In order to be successful you must be qualified from any recognised professional body (i.e. CA, ACCA or ACMA).
Remuneration
A salary of c£45,0000-£50,000 per annum (depending on experience) with an excellent benefit package.
