Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained on a confidential assignment to appoint a Financial Controller within growing SME to be based in East Lothian.

Looking for an exciting opportunity in an innovative, forward thinking and fast-growing company? This is a newly created position for an aspirant Financial Controller, where you can add value and work directly with the senior stakeholders within the business focusing on their ambitious growth plans for the business.

The business is looking to appoint a confident, results-driven Financial Controller to manage and improve the organisation's financial performance and direct their accounting operations. Duties will include managing accounting records, completion of statutory accounts, overseeing accounting operations, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, cash flow forecasting, coordinating auditing processes, evaluating and managing risk, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. There will also be the opportunity to work on a number of acquisitions, transactions and ad hoc finance projects.

Main ‘Financial Controller’ Responsibilities:

  • Preparing financial reports
  • Analysing financial data
  • Monitoring internal controls
  • Overseeing and preparing income statements
  • Participating in budgeting processes
  • Managing financial transactions
  • Streamlining accounting functions and operations.
  • Coordinating audit processes

Your planning skills and exceptional numerical proficiency as a Financial Controller will aid the business in maintaining sustainable growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organisational targets, and developing financial plans that support organisational strategy.

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organised, and have excellent leadership skills. The successful candidate should streamline our accounting functions and operations and provide financial analysis and reports.

Key ‘Financial Controller’ Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in finance management
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals
  • Strong analytical skills
