Description
Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with one of Scotland’s best-known businesses who are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join their team. Working closely with both the Finance Director and CFO, this role has varied duties across a range of key stakeholders, whilst also taking ownership of the existing finance team.
Key Duties:
- Manage the production of the annual financial statements
- Develop balance sheet and cash flow reporting and forecasting
- Ensure accurate and compliant management of the various ledgers
- Integrate the reporting duties alongside the new systems
- Promote a strong internal control culture within the finance team
- Ensure new finance systems are embedded and fully utilised by the wider business
- Provide scrutiny and protection of the assets and cash
- Control of annual external auditor relationship
- Lead and develop the Financial Accounting Teams
- Manage treasury function, including contribution to cash and reserves investment decisions as well as compliance with treasury policy and investments guidance
- Provide input and reporting to the internal advisors
- Ensure compliance with VAT regulations & returns
- Manage insurance arrangements
- Positively influence the wider finance team and provide professional leadership as part of the Finance leadership team
Experience Required:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS) or equivalent
- Excellent leadership skills and experience of developing strong teams
- Strong communication skills to support and influence stakeholders
- Strong IT skills with excellent excel and knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (preferable)
- Knowledge of VAT, including partial exemption
- Knowledge of payroll and employment taxes
- Ability to self-manage and prioritise to meet deadlines
