Rutherford Cross are delighted to be exclusively partnered with one of the largest shipping companies in Europe to help them recruit for the newly created and unique position of Financial Analyst in their Payroll team. This is not your standard Finance role. This is not a payroll processing position and only requires a top-level understanding of how payroll works and interfaces with a finance function. What we are looking for a is a highly curious and analytical individual with a strong background in Finance who can act as the go between the payroll team and the Head of Finance. The position is based in central Glasgow with a flexible working model that is part home-based and a salary on offer of up to 42k + some fantastic and unique further benefits.

Ideally, looking for someone who has built up a strong career in finance, potentially someone qualified by experience or part-qualified who has interfaced with Payroll in some manner previously in their career. You will get the opportunity to join a close-knit team in a positive environment. The industry is highly interesting and fast moving so we need someone who can think on their feet and add value by helping to improve reporting and translate the financials to the people in the team who are more focused on Payroll. You will get the opportunity to business partner with multiple stakeholders across the business in the UK & Beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensuring correct accounting of payroll related costs into the finance systems
  • For offshore payroll ensuring that costs are allocated to the correct vessel
  • Be the key resource within Payroll & Benefits team when relating to financial related questions
  • Principal point of contact with Finance on payroll related matters
  • Responsible for ensuring the distribution of employment related costs are done in the correct way & according to Stena Line principles
  • Reconcile all payroll related accounts in line with Stena Line standards and according to set timetable
  • Be the key resource to compile statistics and reports relating from payroll & people systems
  • Promote general knowledge sharing within the team
  • Responsible for managing Company Cars within the UK
  • Be a UK resource for Group Compensation & Benefits team when relating to compilation of employee related data, statistics, governance support & presentations including information required for the year end accounts
  • Take parts of projects within area of expertise when required
  • Safeguard correct administration of VAT for Expense System
  • Provide analytical commentary on movements in payroll costs against prior month
  • Assistance with year-end calculation of holiday pay accrual
