Financial Accountant
Hybrid: Minimum 2 days in office
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + 10% bonus + benefits
About the Opportunity:
A rapidly growing, private equity-backed environmental services and resource recovery business is seeking a newly qualified Financial Accountant to join its Group Finance team. Operating across multiple sites and waste streams, the organisation is on an ambitious journey to scale significantly over the next five years through investment, acquisitions, and innovation. This is a high-visibility role offering exposure to senior leadership, group reporting, and the opportunity to influence financial processes in a complex multi-entity environment.
The Role:
Reporting into Group Finance, key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of monthly management accounts for central cost entities
- Consolidation of month-end results across a multi-entity Group within tight deadlines
- Preparation of monthly Board reporting packs
- Supporting the implementation of best practice financial processes and controls
- Assisting in the preparation of Group consolidated accounts and statutory accounts (IFRS)
- Supporting the annual audit process
- Assisting with VAT and corporation tax compliance activities
- Reconciling and managing intercompany balances, resolving discrepancies promptly
- Supporting a range of ad hoc financial and external stakeholder requests
About You:
You will be a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional with:
- A recently qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a fast-paced, complex finance environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Excellent Excel skills and ability to work with high-volume data
- A proactive approach to improving processes and controls
- Strong communication skills with confidence to challenge financial outputs
- A logical, organised approach with a strong focus on accuracy and deadlines
- A collaborative style with the ability to build effective working relationships
