Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by Klarent Hospitality to appoint a Financial Accountant to be based at their Head Office in Glasgow.

Klarent Hospitality are the market leaders in hotel investment and management. They currently manage a portfolio of 27 hotels in the UK and Ireland, trading under prestigious, international brands such as Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, DoubleTree by Hilton, Mercure and Ibis Styles.

Rebranded in 2021 Klarent’s predecessor Amaris Hospitality was created under LoneStar ownership in 2015. In the last eight years, the Klarent team has developed a proven track record in delivering operational excellence, exceptional customer experiences and superior service and shareholder returns through people development, active operational management and smart capital investment.

The business currently has circa 3,000 employees and a hotel portfolio covering Scotland, England and Ireland. Klarent Hospitality is owned by Henderson Park Capital Partners, a private equity real estate firm headquartered in London that has clocked up over $13bn in real estate investment deals since 2019.

The Financial Accountant position is an additional hire into Klarent’s already well-established finance function and is being driven by the continued growth and expansion of the business. Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Group. The appointed candidate will have broad exposure to both financial reporting and management accounting, with high levels of interaction with stakeholders both internally and externally.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing year-end statutory accounts in line with IFRS & UK GAAP
  • Assisting in the consolidation of accounts to a group level
  • Assisting with direct tax compliance
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Assisting in the preparation of month-end management accounts including ownership of central platform including central recharges
  • Balance sheet substantiation and key controls
  • Managing and involvement in internal audit process
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Assisting with ongoing change management initiatives
  • Assisting with the delivery of funding and investor reporting
  • Assisting in cashflow management & forecasting
  • Managing and assisting in accounts payable process
  • Ad hoc Duties

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant by training, ideally coming from an Audit background with strong IFRS / UK GAAP experience. It would be preferable if candidates have had exposure to Group Consolidations and are keen to be involved in any process improvement and project work if required. Keen attention to detail will be key for this role, along with being able to meet deadlines effectively and work well in a team environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant preferable (ICAS / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent) with appropriate post qualification experience
  • Audit background, with strong IFRS / UK GAAP
  • Some corporate tax exposure highly desirable
  • Experienced in dealing with financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Able to work towards tight deadlines
  • Be comfortable working autonomously and seeing things through from start to finish
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills, with basic modelling ability

An attractive salary of up to circa £55,000 dependent on experience.
