Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working on an exclusive basis to recruit a Financial Accountant for a leading business in their sector.

The Financial Accountant is a key role within the business, as the only qualified accountant, in addition to the FD. Key to success in the post will be managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.  The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of driving effective change into the business, demonstrating a win-win approach.

An overview of core responsibilities includes:

Management Accounting

  • Providing timely and accurate monthly management accounts, monthly accounts and full stock reconciliations including stock / inventory reporting and analysis, in line with accounting principles
  • Producing weekly forecasting reports and analysis
  • Monthly reconciliation of ERP and Hyperion, analyze where issues arise and provide variance reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations

Commercial Analysis

  • Prepare part profitability analysis and reporting; evaluate and provide insight/improvements into reporting
  • Producing timely and accurate management information
  • Receive, review and prepare additional financial information for head office

Financial Reporting

  • Oversight of intercompany balances
  • Annual statutory accounts preparation and audit pack
  • Liaison with auditors and tax advisors
  • Assisting with annual insurance policy

Process Improvement

  • Develop and document effective processes and controls for financial reporting; liaise with other departments to improve overall company controls
  • Development of management accounts pack in liaison with management team and business need
  • Keep up with financial policies, regulation and legislation
  • Ad-hoc project work

 The position encompasses a combination of key accountancy tasks requiring a confident individual with strong technical skills and interpersonal ability to liaise with stakeholders at the most senior level. As the deputy to the Finance Director, it is important to be able to take ownership of duties. It is likely the individual will have worked in a small finance or audit team where they have been used to taking on a variety of responsibilities.

The business is open to consider candidates from industry as well as those who have trained in an accountancy practice. Candidates must have strong technical skills and will be either ACCA or CA qualified. Having passed exams at the first attempt is preferable though not essential.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree essential
  • Fully qualified accountant (ICAS or ACCA)
  • ERP experience
  • Audit experience
  • IFRS and statutory accounting experience
  • Tax knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous transferrable experience using strong analytical skills to change outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements in a job-costing environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills particularly excel
  • Able to demonstrate experience of influencing a variety of peers and stakeholders

On offer:

Salary:                                  Up to £42,000 (depending on experience)

 

Bonus:                                  Discretionary annual bonus up to 10%

 

Pension:                              Employer contribution 3%

 

Holidays:                             25 days plus statutory holidays
