Description
Rutherford Cross is supporting a well-established Glasgow based charity to recruit for the role of Finance Assistant. Working as part of a team you would be focusing on financial ledgers, specifically on the cashbook for the business.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Accurately posting all non-sales/purchase ledger bank transactions to the nominal ledger promptly
- Reviewing and analysing large volumes of daily income, identifying transactions to be allocated to the sales ledger and providing reports of cash received
- Reconciliation of bank accounts in line with month-end
- Monitoring daily bank balances and cash requirements
- Responsibility for transferring funds across bank accounts
- Ensuring direct debits and standing order payments are set up and actively reviewed and maintained
- Producing, authorising, and processing BACS payments and cheques in a timely manner
- Preparation and reconciliation of journals for all petty cash, debit cards, corporate credit cards and procurement card returns
- Monitoring and operating the petty cash debit card system, ensuring card fund disbursements are made timeously and within agreed limits; card transactions are coded by card users; monthly card records and statements are collated and reconciled
- Processing supplier invoices and ensuring all are coded correctly and entered onto the finance system
The Individual:
- Previous experience in cashbook administration and maintenance within a medium to large organisation
- Demonstratable experience in treasury management and banking across numerous bank accounts and complex cashflow environments
- A developed practical knowledge of financial accounting alongside a sound understanding of accounting procedures and principles
- Proficient in computer applications particularly electronic banking and spreadsheets
