Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by a high-growth technology business in Glasgow to recruit a Director of Finance.
Our client is seeking a Director of Finance to be an integral part of the team based in Glasgow and a direct support to the CEO and COO. The role will support the rapid growth of the company, with robust and effective management reporting, systems and processes. The Director of Finance will be involved in the commercial development of the business supporting the CEO and COO in engagement with clients, including input to contracting, management of internal processes and client fulfilment.

An overview of core responsibilities includes:
- Production of high quality management and statutory financial reporting for the group (incorporating UK limited company and US Inc.)
- Working with advisors to ensure financial and tax compliance across the group
- Performing company secretarial duties
- Ensuring robust cash controls and forecasting
- Analysis of new business opportunities, including commercial bids and contract reviews
- Engagement with customers and clients, both in regard to finance and commercial tasks
- Leading business forecasting to support, short, medium and long-term business planning in collaboration with all key stakeholders
- Participation at board meetings, leading the finance reporting, presenting core KPIs and forecasts
- Close involvement in investor relations, dealing with major shareholders, venture debt provider and other stakeholders
- Involvement in future shareholder events, including the potential sale of the business in due course
- Member of senior management team, involving some travel and management of staff overseas
It is likely that the individual is a seasoned Director of Finance, but the role may also suit a high calibre Financial Controller seeking their first step into a lead finance role. They will ideally be comfortable working in a demanding environment and can develop, implement and manage effective changes across the business. Certainly, it is essential that they can provide significant support to the CEO and COO, while overseeing US and UK financial operations.
A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:
- High calibre graduate with good track record of academic achievement
- Fully qualified accountant with 5 years+ relevant post-qualification experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of statutory accounting, taxation and compliance
- Experience of implementing robust financial controls, processes and procedures
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to produce high quality management information to support decision making
- Strong experience of financial modelling
- Excellent staff management and development skills
- Strong excel and financial modelling skills
- Self-starter, willing to get involved in the detail, whilst having sufficient gravitas to support and challenge key stakeholders as required
- Confident communicator with strong inter-personal skills
Remuneration:
Salary: £60,000- £75,000 (depending on experience) plus additional benefits.
