Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnering with John Menzies PLC to recruit a Deputy Group Tax Manager for their HQ in Edinburgh.  With two diverse divisions – Menzies Aviation and Menzies Distribution – the company has over 35,000 employees in 35 countries, and a market cap of c£600million.

With impressive 2016 financial results and a firm strategic plan for growth John Menzies PLC is offering a rarely available opportunity to join their in-house tax team and assist in shaping the tax operations, as well as assisting in future acquisitions and project work.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax

• Corporate tax focused primarily with involvement in VAT, employment tax and stamp duty taxes
• Providing strategic tax advice on the UK and overseas tax implications of acquisitions, new start-ups, disposals, group restructurings etc.
• Preparation of group tax forecasts on a regular basis
• Transfer pricing
• Compliance with Senior Accounting Officer legislation

Treasury

• Acting as back up dealer for the treasury team when required
• Working with the treasury team on projects such as inter-company loans and cross-border cash pooling

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Qualified accountant and/or tax adviser
• Extensive experience of providing corporate tax advice to multi-national groups
• Tax accounting experience on multi-national groups
• Knowledge of M&A tax, transfer pricing and SAO responsibilities advantageous
• Self-motivated and driven
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Capacity to develop new technical skills and to deputise for tax and treasury colleagues as required
