Our client, a well-established retail bank based in Glasgow city centre is currently seeking an Assistant Manager in Corporate Tax to cover a fixed term period of 9-12 months.

Reporting to the Corporate Tax Manager, the role holder will work closely with other members of the tax team to ensure all UK corporate AX compliance obligations of the group are met on a timely basis and to the required high standard, providing support to the Corporate Tax Manager as requested through internal and external reporting. The role holder may have additional responsibilities in relation to review emerging and prospective UK corporate tax legislation and assess impacts for the UK group, and engaging proactively with business unit stakeholder to discuss the same. You will be required to work with the business - planning and forecasting with a view to optimising the tax position, and support the Tax team with the evaluation of HMRCs consultative documents and responding to legislative changes.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Monthly tax reporting
  • Supporting the Head of Tax and the Corporate Tax Manager.
  • Appropriate engagement with HMRC and industry bodies.
  • Evaluating tax implications of regulatory change and changes to the funding and capital structure of the Bank.
  • Providing tax support to business initiatives, for example new fundraising and debt equity swaps.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Tax policy.
  • Keeping up to date with new changes to tax legislation and assessing the impact on the business.

The Tax Manager will engage with a variety of internal Group customers, largely from the Finance teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with external & internal auditors in relation to corporation tax, bank levy, SAO and other relevant initiatives. You will also correspond with HMRC relating to factual and technical matters and ensuring that statutory and internal reporting and filing deadlines are met.

 

Experience / Qualifications Required:

 

  • ACA or CTA membership with relevant financial services industry tax experience gained in house or with a large professional services firm.
  • Ability to work remotely where required.
  • Detailed knowledge of Corporation Tax
  • Excellent excel skills
