Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly reputable Ayrshire-based organisation to appoint an Assistant Management Accountant for a 12–14-month period.

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Timely and accurate data entry to accounting system across both entities; credit card reconciliations, raising sales invoices and posting all related journals as required
  • Monthly credit control activities for trade debtors & reconciliation of deferred income balances
  • Assisting in the maintenance and monthly review of the purchase order system
  • Collating supplier payment runs including uploading payments to online banking services for approval
  • Working with the Accounts Assistant to ensure the accurate coding and VAT treatment of expenditure items
  • Reconciling petty cash accounts and verifying documentation
  • Assisting in month-end processes including maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Reconciling and managing intercompany balances
  • Reconciling restricted fund project expenditure
  • Submitting quarterly VAT returns for both entities
  • Assisting in recording quarterly investment portfolio movement
  • Assisting in the enforcement of financial controls among non-finance staff, such as the use of authorised purchase orders
  • Preparing budgeting templates
  • Overseeing the budgeting process, liaising with both finance and non-finance staff to prepare accurate departmental budgets for review the by CFO and board
  • Cashflow reporting
  • Assisting with ad-hoc operational and statutory audit queries as required
  • Supporting in the delivery of monthly restricted fund reporting for the group
  • Ad-hoc duties to assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts

The Individual:

  • Part Qualified or ‘Qualified by Experience’ Accountant
  • Good technical accounting knowledge including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets
  • Previous experience in a group reporting role is desirable
  • Experience with SAGE and QuickBooks accounting software is preferred, but not essential
  • Strong team player, supporting both finance and non-finance colleagues, as well as the ability to develop good working relationships
