Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a successful local business in order to appoint an Assistant Accountant. The role of the Assistant Accountant will report directly to the Finance Director and support the team with the financial operations of the business. This position will ideally suit a Part Qualified Accountant who can work independently and is able to show initiative in improving finance functions.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in month-end and in the production of monthly management accounts
• Produce and post accruals and prepayments for month-end
• Assist in the production of monthly sales, margin and cost reports and analysis
• Update Fixed Asset Register with new additions and disposals
• Process monthly depreciation journal
• Responsible for sales ledger – invoicing and credit control, aged debtor analysis
• Run monthly Purchase Ledger payment runs
• Responsible for the management and analysis of the company credit card expenditure
• Invoice processing
• Assist in preparation of P11Ds
• Assist in all aspects of year-end
• Support the finance team and other colleagues with any ad hoc duties

Requirements:

• Part Qualified ACCA / CIMA, or able to prove qualification through experience
• Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
• Have exposure to accruals and prepayments
• Have worked in an accounts environment
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Ability to adapt to new situations and needs
• Effective team player
• Good communication skills
