Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a growing PE-backed business in Perth to appoint an Assistant Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that daily finance operations run smoothly and efficiently.

You will be responsible for:

  • Inputting sales invoices, purchase invoices and bank transactions
  • Issuing statements to customers, and resolving queries with the internal Operations team
  • Performing credit control via phone & e-mail
  • Coding & processing of supplier invoices, ensuring correct VAT treatment
  • Reconciling supplier statements, and resolving queries / discrepancies
  • Maintaining the purchase ledger, including the addition of supplier records
  • Preparing supplier payment runs
  • Managing purchase order processing system
  • Liaising with the stock team on month-end stock reporting to ensure cut-off
  • Reconciling all company bank accounts and credit card facility
  • Banking of any cheque payments received (small volume)
  • Managing payroll by tracking employee overtime hours and entitlements
  • Preparing payroll payment runs and liaising with third-party payroll provider
  • Reconciling balance sheet control accounts, and preparing monthly reconciliations for review
  • Management & review of employee expense claims
  • Preparing VAT returns for review
  • Maintaining nominal and subsidiary ledgers
  • Processing intercompany transactions and reconciling intercompany balances at month-end
  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial data entered into accounting software
  • Supporting with the preparation of month-end accounts to trial balance level for review
  • Creating and posting nominal ledger journals, including prepayments and accruals
  • Reconciling balance sheet control accounts, and preparing monthly reconciliations for review
  • Preparing month-end accounts to trial balance level for review
  • Support the preparation of month and year-end accounts, and budget preparation
  • Creating and posting nominal ledger journals, including prepayments and accruals
  • General accounts administration
  • Maintaining nominal and subsidiary ledgers

The Individual:

  • Part-Qualified or ‘Qualified by Experience’
  • Strong Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control experience, with a willingness to support and develop additional areas e.g., month-end preparation
  • Good problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Confident and possess the gravitas to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Xero Accounting Software

 

On offer is a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 p.a. (DOE).
