Rutherford Cross is delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Tissue Solutions, an awarding winning life science business based in Glasgow to recruit an accountant.

Organisation

Tissue Solutions operates a global business with over 200 active clients based in the UK, Europe, Asia and USA. They are approved suppliers to the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and contract research organisations (CROs) worldwide and have distributors in Israel and Japan. They have ambitious plans in the next few years to go through significant growth in both the domestic and international front, providing an excellent opportunity for an individual to join the organisation and internally progress.

Job Description

The Accountant is a key member of overall team who will report to the Finance Director and the CEO. The position requires interaction with business across multiple divisions within Tissue Solution as well as the banks. In addition, the role is envisaged to expand as the company grows allowing the he successful candidate to become the potential Financial Controller.

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Transaction processing including foreign currency transactions (sales/purchase and bank transactions, reconciliations) and working with exchange rate variances
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns, with the ability to understand complex VAT treatments (partial exemptions, triangulation)
  • Prepare and submit EC Sales Lists data
  • Consider Intrastat returns
  • Manage invoice finance facility and prepare monthly reconciliations for the bank
  • Prepare payment runs
  • Undertake credit control
  • Prepare management accounts/monthly financial information
  • Prepare year end file for accountants to use for statutory accounts and corporation tax purposes
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Work with FD and others to convert Sage to Xero eco-system, and develop all aspects of Xero and related “add-ons”
  • Work with FD/CEO on special projects

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • Building strong relationships with both the current team and external contacts
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Creative thinker with excellent problem solving and analytical abilities

         Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong technical skills, confident with IT system and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent working knowledge of Sage 50
  • Working knowledge of cloud accounting systems (preferably Xero) would be desirable but not necessary
  • Knowledge of payroll would be again advantageous but not required
  • Working in different currencies (£, $ and €)

          Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACMA)

          Personal Attributes

  • A self-starter who is able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to adapt to different systems, processes and concepts quickly
  • Strong technical skills, confident with IT system and Microsoft Office products
  • Attention to detail
  • Work as of a small office team
  • Communicate effectively with the FD and CEO Salary:  £30,000 - £35,000 (Depending on experience)

         Salary:  £30,000 - £35,000 (Depending on experience)
