Description

Glasgow, £37,000 - £40,000 plus pension, bonus and private healthcare

Our client is a small, high growth professional services organisation with their Head Office in Glasgow city centre. To support this growth, they are seeking to recruit a qualified Chartered Accountant to report to the Finance Director and take responsibility for a number of key deliverables.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintain financial records, systems and internal controls
  • Manage cashflow and ensure appropriate funds are available
  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Produce information for quarterly Board meetings
  • Prepare statutory company accounts and the year end audit file
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget along with key stakeholders
  • Liaise with auditors
  • Prepare corporation tax pack and VAT returns
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset register
  • Maintain company policies and schemes (e.g. insurance, healthcare, company car, etc.)

To meet these challenges, you will be a qualified CA who, ideally, has trained in a mid-tier accountancy practice and has experience of preparing the statutory accounts of small companies and partnerships. Experience of tax returns (corporation tax and partnership tax) is also of benefit.

Post-qualification, it is highly desirable that you have gained some experience outside the profession in a finance department preparing management accounts, VAT returns, PAYE returns, P11Ds, corporation tax returns, etc.

This role will suit someone who wants to work in a small but busy finance department which provides exposure to a large variety of tasks and experiences.

Key experience and skills required include:

  • Excellent technical foundation in accounting and tax regulations
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • Self-motivated, energy, drive, tenacity, professionalism and commitment
  • Excellent IT skills with an advanced knowledge of MS Excel

In return, the company offers a good financial package in addition to basic salary including an excellent pension scheme (12.5% employer contribution), 10% bonus potential, family private healthcare and a generous 37 days holiday inclusive of public holidays.
