Description

A well-established home-building company in South Ayrshire is seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of its full in-house finance function. The business prides itself on delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes with a strong ethical approach and a collaborative, forward-thinking culture.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong background in finance and accounting, ideally within the construction or property development sector. The full-time, permanent position will be based on-site and offers a salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per annum.

 

Key Responsibilities - Managing all aspects of financial accounting including:

  • Sage 50 Accounts (weekly/monthly)
  • Payroll processing and year-end
  • Pension administration
  • Eque2 costing and analysis
  • Purchase and sales ledger
  • Cash book postings and bank reconciliations
  • Month-end journals and management accounts
  • CIS returns and subcontractor reconciliations
  • VAT returns (monthly and group)
  • Fixed assets and work-in-progress tracking
  • Utility invoice management and statement reconciliations
  • Forecasting and year-end adjustments
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Inter-company balance reconciliations
  • Petty cash and post distribution
  • Government Gateway submissions across multiple entities

 

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience in account management or a similar finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and Eque2
  • Experience in payroll, VAT, CIS and year-end processes
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with precision

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Background in the construction or home-building industry
  • Familiarity with project costing and subcontractor management
