As a key player within the Finance department, the Accountant will collaborate closely with the Director of Finance, Finance Lead, Head of Finance, and Branch teams. You will provide expert advice and guidance to help them effectively manage their financial performance across multiple regions, ensuring financial health and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Support: Offer financial advice and guidance to Regional Directors and their teams on budgeting and financial management.
  • Budget Monitoring: Regularly track income and expenditure against budgets, investigating and explaining significant variances.
  • Management Accounts: Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Provide financial support to the Finance Leads, Director of Finance, and Fundraising team.
  • Budget Negotiations: Assist the Senior Leadership team in negotiations with local authorities and other stakeholders on budget matters.
  • Process Improvement: Support the ongoing review and enhancement of financial reporting and procedures within the Finance department.
  • Budget Preparation: Take the lead in preparing budgets for tenders, new projects, and operational activities.
  • Audit Compliance: Prepare detailed schedules in line with both internal and external audit requirements, ensuring financial integrity.

The Individual:

We are looking for a Part-Qualified Accountant (or Qualified by Experience) with proven experience in a similar role. You’ll bring a strong track record of working with complex financial systems and a detail-oriented approach to financial management. You will have:

  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience in a finance role within a complex organisation
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with financial software and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Analytical Expertise: The ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data to support decision-making.
  • Management Accounting: Experience of reviewing and analysing management accounts with Journal entries
  • Relationship Management: Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to producing high-quality, accurate work within tight deadlines.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email) and other financial tools.

On Offer:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Generous Holiday Allowance (Buy and Sell Holiday options)
  • Employer Pension Scheme
  • Flexible & Hybrid Working model
  • Life Insurance
  • Advantage Health Cash Plan
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

This is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career while making a meaningful impact within a leading charity.
