Description

 

Rutherford Cross are engaged to recruit a Financial Controller for their well-known client Peter Vardy at their site in Perth. This is a diverse and varied role with good exposure across the organisation. You will lead and manage the accounts department operations, ensuring company income and expenditure is processed accurately and within set deadlines. Produce all company management accounts, budget and forecasting data, complying with all company policies, and relevant legal and professional guidelines. As well as providing relevant timely financial information to the Directors to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Group’s strategy and objectives.

An overview of core responsibilities includes:

 

  • To assist in the development of plans for the dealership and prepare budget on this basis with the Managing Partner and the rest of the Management team.
  • To assist the dealership management team with the assessment of trends in all key financial indicators and likely financial consequences
  • Prepare the management accounts to the required deadlines and ensure that this information is communicated to our manufacturer partner to their standards and deadlines via Composite submission.
  • Ensure preparation of accurate Forecasts of the Dealership Performance to the Group deadlines (weekly)
  • Actively participate in the daily management meetings and monthly Operational review and ensure that the data is provided to all attendees on time
  • To ensure that the payment of salary and wages to dealership personnel is carried out timely and accurately and that all payroll details are compiled and supplied to HR on time
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliation’s are completed in line with the Group procedure and are completed on a monthly basis and are available for review following submission of the management accounts
  • Maintain proper banking procedures following Group policy and using the standard Group models
  • Ensure Credit Control procedures are adhered to, and that debt meetings are held weekly with each of the departments and minutes are produced
  • Ensure Purchase Ledger is controlled in line with standard procedures and that invoices are processed and paid timeously.
  • Ensure that the dealership vehicle sales are processed correctly and that the correct documentation is held on file and that the proper documentation is held for both manufacturer purposes (e.g. manufacturer bonus backup) and other regulatory bodies.
  • Liaise with auditors over final/interim audits and produce year end financial details
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for the dealership using the dealership vat model
  • Active management of the dealership cost base, ensuring that the costs being incurred are legitimate, relevant and represent value for money
  • Maintain relevant records to ensure year end corporation tax schedule and P11d schedule may be completed, as well as ensure that all other documentation is held in line with Group policy.
  • Ensure that the physical assets are audited, and that a full vehicle stock check is performed monthly
  • Assist with all manufacturer and warranty audits, ensuring that any issues are addressed with action plans being compiled and implemented.
