Our client is a leading service organisation with operations across the UK. Due to an internal restructure, they are seeking a commercial focused Finance Manager to be based in Aberdeen and support operations across the North of Scotland.
The primary focus of the role is to provide financial decision support to the local Managing Director and Senior Management Team in relation to commercial opportunities and cost control. In addition, the individual will play a key role in setting financial strategy, especially in regard to long term planning, budgeting and forecasting, along with all financial and non-financial KPIs.
This is a part-time appointment for circa 15 hours per week though applications are welcomed from individuals seeking slightly more or less hours than this. In addition, the business is entirely flexible in terms of how these hours are attributed across a week (i.e. 2 days working 7.5 hours, 5 days works 3 hours, etc.) so most working patterns can be accommodated.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Ensure that all reporting deadlines are met and that period end accounts are complete
- Support the Managing Director in ensuring that projects are on track and on budget
- Evaluate commercial opportunities such as new tenders and contracts
- Responsible for production of all capital expenditure requests
- Responsible for all financial commentary on local Board reports
- Ensure that the risks and opportunities schedule is updated regularly
- Provide appropriate mentoring to more junior members of the finance team
- Act as finance representative on external bodies and liaison with external advisors
To apply for this role you will be a commercially astute qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience. You will be experienced of dealing with all levels within a business and possess sufficient gravitas to challenge senior members of the management team.
Specific skills, experience and qualifications required include:
- Member of a recognised accountancy professional body (preferably CA, CIMA or ACCA)
- Experience of dealing with all levels within a business
- Tenacious with a willingness to challenge senior stakeholders as required
- Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrating influencing skills with the necessary gravitas and emotional intelligence
- Strong IT skills including advanced Excel
- Experience of working in a large, complex organisation
- Ability to deliver to tight deadlines without compromising quality
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
- Flexible to meet the needs of the business as required
